Sandra Livingston works at Security Mutual in Binghamton.

She met Jiverly Wong when he was scouring through the business's parking lot for bottles and cans.

"He seemed really sad and down and out," Livingston said.

She took up a collection of bottles and cans at work and once a month, called Wong to come and pick them up.

Livingston says her heart sank after Friday's shooting.

"He never showed me any type of violent behavior he never acted aggressive to me. I never really felt threatened by him," Livingston said.

Livingston was one of many people who came to the Oakdale Mall to sign these cards.

As a way to offer their blessings and condolences to the victims' families.

"Most of the people that died were immigrants just like us, I really feel for them," Janice Griffith of Binghamton said.

There were 14 cards.

Each symbolizing someone who died at the American Civic Association

"It was amazing to walk along and take a journey along this table and see the names and see where everyone comes from and see the out-pour of support of love and kindness from the community," Teal Yajko of Binghamton said.

"From all over the world, I can't imagine the heart ache they all feel," Mary Cohen of Endicott said.

The messages on Wong's card were different than the others.

Some wrote in anger, others hoping he would find his peace after death.

"I wish I could say I understand why he would do something like this," Livingston said. "It just doesn't make any sense to me."

Livingston hopes people can forgive Wong despite his terrible deed.
