People Still Feel Safe

By WBNG News

Easter Sunday was a day for some people to reflect on the deadly shootings at the American Civic Association building just a little more
than a week ago.

It's been just nine days since the day of the ACA building shootings that left 13 people and the gunman dead.

We asked people who live in the Southern Tier if they feel their community is safe, despite the shootings.

"I do, I still feel safe. I think overall, it's a safe community. I mean, it was a terrible tragedy but it seems like these days it can happen anywhere so I think overall it is a safe community," says Kacy Telfair of Corning.

"I still feel safe. I think police responded very, very well and I think the community responded very well. It's just an unfortunate incident and it was a tragic one but that generally doesn't happen around here," says Bill Ryan of Binghamton.

"I mean, it affected everybody, I think it's just a scary thing and it can happen anywhere," says Elise Calkins of Endicott.

As a way of remembering the victims, Binghamton University will also hold a memorial service on Tuesday at 4:30pm.

The service will be held in the Grand Corridor of the Fine Arts Building on campus.
