Remembering Guo

By WBNG News

A visiting research scholar killed in the American Civic Association shootings April 3rd is remembered.

Family and friends gathered at Binghamton University's Downtown Center in Binghamton to pay tribute to Li Guo.

47-year old Guo came to the US from China last summer and was taking English classes at the center.

Guo was working with BU to establish an exchange program with a Chinese college.

Colleagues remember Guo as a person who soaked up the American culture in Binghamton.

"Her office was down the hall from mine, and she literally would bound down the hall to tell me what her latest discovery was. She loved trying out new English phrases," said College of Community and Public Affairs Dean Patricia Ingraham.

A tree was planted where Guo liked to sit outside the Downtown Center.

Also, a plaque with her name was unveiled.

Guo's family from China was here for the ceremony.
