Reunion In Tragedy

By WBNG News

It was a solemn reunion tonight for a Binghamton family.

57 year old Layla Kahlil was one of 13 killed at the American Civic Association on April 3rd.

Khalil immigrated from Iraq to the U-S with her family just 7 months ago.

Tonight, family and friends came together at Country Towne Apartments in Binghamton, to honor her.

Her husband says the community has been a huge help during this difficult time.

"A lot of things relieved after the tragedy. One of the things, the people, the people of Binghamton have been friendly and help support us," said Layla's husband, Samir Ilsalihi.

Organizers waited to hold the vigil for Layla's oldest son Firas, who was in France during the shooting.

The ACA and Government officials rushed to get him an emergency visa, so he could come to Binghamton for the services.
