AMERICAN CIVIC ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES TEMPORARY HOME

First Congregational Church of Binghamton to Serve as Temporary Headquarters, Programs and Services to Resume in the Near Future

The American Civic Association (ACA) today announced that it has secured temporary headquarters at the First Congregational Church of Binghamton, which is located next door to ACA headquarters at 131 Front Street. The ACA will operate out of that space until repairs to the association’s facility are complete in the wake of the tragic shootings that occurred on April 3.

Andrew Baranoski, Executive Director of the American Civic Association said, “We are extremely grateful that our neighbor, the First Congregational Church, has been kind enough to provide us with the opportunity to once again serve our community. This temporary home meets all of the criteria we need to begin offering programs and services -- it is accessible and close to public transportation, it has parking and offers the ability to protect the privacy of our clients.”

Baranoski continued, “The past few weeks have been extremely emotional, but as we have said since this horrible episode occurred, we will remember all those we have lost, but will not lose sight of our mission – to help newcomers to this nation forge a path to tomorrow. This temporary home is our first step forward.”

The First Congregational Church will provide the ACA with office space, room to conduct client services, internet access and telephone service and generously agreed to provide this free of charge. The ACA will have use of the space from Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Programming is expected to resume as soon as the space is configured, possibly in as little time as a week. An announcement will be made when the space is ready to go.
