Oneonta, NY (WBNG, Binghamton) - The 17th Annual Pit Run took place Sunday in Oneonta.
The race is held each year in memory of Ricky J. Parisian, a state police investigator who was shot while off-duty. Parisian was killed in 1994 while trying to prevent an armed robbery at the Great American in Oneonta.
The 10K race featured a tough uphill run past the State University College campus.
Today's race attracted close to one thousand participants who raced in the 10K, a 5K and a 2 mile stroll for kids, families, and even dogs.
Money raised will go towards a scholarship in Parisian's name which supports area youth groups.
