Green Car Wash Opens In Binghamton

July 22, 2010 Updated Dec 4, 2009 at 5:48 PM EST

A new car wash hopes to make a little green, by going green.

Wash at Joe's opened today on Conklin Avenue in Binghamton.

The touch-free automatic car wash reuses water to cut down on what it draws and returns through the city water system.

Geothermal pumps are also on site, to heat up water during the winter months.

"52 degree water comes out of the ground, the heat exchangers extract the energy from the water, and discharges 38 degree water back into the ground. That energy is then compressed and used for our main energy at this facility," said owner Joe Conaty.
