GHS Federal Credit Union workers are putting on their red today

Town of Dickinson, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A local business shows its support for women fighting heart disease.

GHS Federal Credit Union workers are putting on their red today.

It's part of Go Red Day, which is a nationwide effort to promote the importance of women keeping their hearts healthy.

Employees could go casual for the day by donating 5-dollars to the American Heart Association.

One GHS worker says she's glad her company is giving back.

"I am proud to say that I can be part of this organization and help support not only this special thing for the American Heart, but we do numerous things for, such as a Haiti disaster." said Katrina Kennedy.

These awareness pins are also being offered for a donation.

According to the American Heart Association, more than 400-thousand women are affected by cardiovascular disease each year.
