Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Thousands at Binghamton University celebrate the Jewish Sabbath.
More than 1500 students, staff and faculty gathered at the campus's East Gym for Shabbat dinner.
It took 400 pounds of beef, 800 pounds of chicken and 15-hundred challah rolls to feed everyone and don't forget lots of Kugel.
Organizers say while Shabbat is observed every Friday night.
Friday's holiday is even more special as friends and colleagues celebrate it together.
"There are so many people that come to this one event every year and don't do anything else. And that's their connection. And everyone needs to make their own connections to Jewish Life on campus. And it's such an easy way to just drop in and sit with all your friends and have a great meal," said Tobey Lass, Organizer of Shabbat For 1500.
BU's Chabad Center started the annual dinner back in 1994 which is now duplicated on campuses across country.
