Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A new program is helping kindergartners at Chenango Forks make a splash in the pool!

Kindergarten classes at Harshaw Primary School are being introduced to the pool in a new way.

Students are being read a book about swimming, before they enter the water.
The hope is that the story will help make them feel more at ease about learning to swim.

"Everybody has a fear of the unknown, so the more we make it known, the less afraid they'll be," Said Physical Education Teacher Steve Busch

High School students also lend a helping hand with the kids in water.
This is the first year of the program.
