Albany, NY (WBNG Binghamton) 17 New Yorkers were arrested during what protest groups call the first major act of civil disobedience since Governor Cuomo took office.
In Albany, an estimated 175 people crammed into the Capitol building's State Street lobby
They oppose what they call a corporate-backed agenda of tax cuts for millionaires.
They say there are too many deep spending cuts proposed for healthcare, education and social services, and not enough concessions from Wall Street and upper class New Yorkers.
Capitol security acted when protesters blocked the stairwells and doorways, citing a safety threat in the event of an emergency.
Those arrested face a charge of Disorderly Conduct
Groups participating in this action included Community Voices Heard, Picture the Homeless, and VOCAL-NY.
