Le Roy, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Concern over a mysterious disorder affecting a group of girls in Western New York spreads across the state, reportedly attracting attention from Environmental Activist Erin Brockovich.

The lawyer may be sending a team to investigate the situation.

The State Department of Health confirms at least 3 new cases of conversion disorder in Leroy.

Two more girls and one boy are now showing the same symptoms as 12 other girls said to have the disorder earlier this month.

Private doctors are evaluating the cases.

They'll share their findings with the state.

Two high school softball players in the Albany area are also showing signs of conversion disorder.

They ate at a restaurant in Leroy, but that seems to be where the connection stops.

"To hear that there are more occurances, it's really scaring everybody," said lifelong Leroy resident Mary Tuohey. "What is going on in our community? Or at our school?"

"I've had a couple people ask me if I'm faking this," said Lori Brownell of Corinth, who was affected by thr illness. "What I say to them, is give me one reason why I would fake this. Cause i'm missing out on my life right now."

Brownwell started showing symptoms in August.

She hasn't been to school since October.

The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke says it's doing research on the disorder.

It says symptoms can last for days, sometimes weeks.
