Brockport, NY (WBNG Binghamton) An 18-year-old woman's body was found in her dorm room Saturday morning at SUNY Brockport and her boyfriend is charged with her murder.
Alexandra Kogut from New Hartford, was found dead in her dorm room, according to SUNY Brockport.
Police say Kogut was brutally murdered with extensive trauma to her body.
Monroe County Sheriff's Office says Clayton Whittemore has been charged with murder in the second degree.
John Halstead, SUNY Brockport President, released a statement that said, "On behalf of our entire campus community, I offer my deepest condolences to the family and friends of Alexandra Kogut. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her loved ones at this difficult time. These are trying times for our campus but I know we will pull together and support each other as we move through the coming days."
Kogut was a freshman majoring in communications.
Whittemore was not a student at the school.
Whittemore is charged with second degree murder and is in jail without bail.
