(WBNG Binghamton) U.S. Representative Richard Hanna on Tuesday announced that Tri-Cities Airport has been selected to receive $137,000 in grant funding through the U.S. Department of Transportation to make upgrades at the facility.
According to a news release:
The competitive grant award will rehabilitate the runway at the Tri-Cities Airport to maintain structural integrity of the pavement and to minimize foreign object debris. This grant will provide funding for the design phase of the project.
Rep. Hanna, a pilot and member of the House Transportation & Infrastructure Committee, said these upgrades will revitalize the Tri-Cities Airport and maintain safety and operational efficiency.
“I am pleased that the Tri-Cities Airport received this much-needed grant to design an upgraded runway, which will maintain the structural integrity of the pavement,” Rep. Hanna said. “General aviation plays an important role in the Southern Tier’s economy and this competitive award for Tri-Cities will help keep pilots and passengers safe during their travels.”
The total grant award is $137,277.
