Johnson City, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Thousands flocked to local churches Sunday to celebrate Easter, one the holiest days for Christians.

Calvary's Love, in Johnson City, had a full house at their musical services Sunday morning.

The worship leader, Jerod Terry, strummed his guitar as the congregation sang along to lyrics scrolling on large TV screens.

The Senior Pastor Jerry Terry said Easter is important to their Pentecostal congregation because it represents a new beginning.

"There's nothing more exciting than Easter Sunday morning, it represents new life," Terry said.

Christians believe that Easter is the day Jesus was resurrected. The holiday ends the holy period of Lent, which lasts 40 days.
