(WBNG Binghamton) General Motors announced sales of Chevrolet Volt will launch in 6 states and Washington DC.
Participating dealers in New York can began taking orders for the 2011 Chevrolet Volt today.
GM says the Volt is the only electric vehicle that can be an "everyday driver" with a range of 340 miles.
The automaker says when the battery runs low, a gas powered engine extends the driving range.
The suggested retail price starts at $41,000. Qualifying purchasers may be eligible for a federal income tax credit of up to $7,500.
