(WKBW Buffalo) The commissioner canceled his tour on the new state testing standards after receiving backlash from parents at this first stop in Poughkeepsie, according to WKBW.
King cancelled the public meetings on the Common Core curriculum after his first stop in Poughkeepsie last week.
That was the first of five meetings scheduled to be held in different parts of the state to discuss the new standards.

In a statement, King said the meeting was taken over by members of "special interest" groups and that he was working on finding a way to hold another meeting on the Common Core standards that will be more productive.
