(WBNG Binghamton) Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino on Wednesday announced his candidacy for governor of the State of New York in a video message to New Yorkers.

The Mount Pleasant republican posted a message entitled "Back in the Winning Column" on his website.

It emphasizes that New York State is ranked last compared to other states in categories like high taxes, corruption, business friendliness and population loss.

“Since Andrew Cuomo has been governor, New York has lost more of it's citizens than any other state. More than 400,000 New Yorkers have thrown in the towel and left for a lower cost of living or job opportunities elsewhere,” said Astorino.

Rob Astorino was in Broome County last week.

He’s serving his second term as Westchester County Executive.

On Thursday, he will begin a campaign tour with stops across the state.
