(WBNG Binghamton) Trends show Tuesday is not a popular day to have a wedding. But trends also show more couples are picking iconic dates to tie the knot.
On Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, 3,000 couples said "I do," according to David's Bridal.
Even though it meant a mid-week wedding, David's Bridal said it was one of the most highly anticipated days of the year for weddings.
Newlyweds Daryl and Katie Grant didn't seem to mind their bash wasn't on the weekend.
"It's a random day, but the day itself is all that really matters," Daryl said.
At first, the couple joked about getting married on an iconic date.
But after their cousins tied the knot in Vegas on Sept. 11, 2012, they decided to follow suit.
According to David's Bridal, the trend took off after a number of weddings on July 7, 2007.
"It's kind of neat to do it," Daryl said. "We figure it's only going to happen once in our lifetimes."
The consecutive numbers also had some new parents thanking the cosmic stars.
Nathaniel Call said their due date was on Nov. 12. He and his wife were crossing their fingers their baby boy would arrive right on time.
"There's a restaurant that advertises they have an eggplant Parmesan that guarantees you'll be in labor in 48 hours," Call said. "We just so happened to strategically eat that on Sunday night."
The dish did the trick. Call's wife went into labor Tuesday afternoon.
A total of seven babies were expected to be delivered by the end of the day at Lourdes Hospital.
"Of course every parent has noticed it because they know their child is potentially going to be born on this day and carry this date forever, so it is important to a lot of parents," nurse Kayla Baird said.
Looking ahead to next year, the special day will fall on Dec. 13, 2014 or 12/13/14.
