Town of Union, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Town of Union residents and two villages can expect two different tax increases for 2013.

The villages of Endicott and Johnson City will see a 2.7 percent increase, whereas the remaining residents in the Town of Union will see their taxes go up by 2.5 percent.

Despite the tax increase, Town of Union Deputy Supervisor Rose Sotak is pleased with the budget.

After the 2011 flood, they are saving money by any means possible. Employees that retire or leave are not being replaced, but they're not making any staff cuts.

"We're sharing the work between the Town of Union employees, which, maybe they get a little bit of a styphon to do a little bit of extra work so it's good for motivation and moral," said Sotak.

The Town of Union also secured over $10 million in federal grant money after the flood, which Sotak says helped immensely.

The 2013 budget is expected to be approved Monday night.
