Johnson City, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Kids at a local summer basketball camp were surprised with a special guest.

A professional basketball player stopped by to teach some valuable skills.

The BX Speed and Strength Development Gym of Binghamton held a three day basketball camp at Davis College.

Kevin Jones, who recently signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers as an undrafted free agent, signed autographs and spoke to camp goers.

"Just the basics. Just the fundamentals. I mean everybody likes to score but nobody really likes to play defense. Just the little things that people don't think are important that really are and just try to connect with them and interact with them a little bit while I'm here," said Jones.

"I think it's great anytime the kids get a chance to see somebody who is where potentially they would like to be someday. He can share some stories on what it took for him to reach not only the collegiate level but the professional level. I think that's always positive," said owner of BX Speed and Strength Development Gym, Rob Baxter.

The camp is for third through eighth graders.

Baxter is one of Jones trainers.

In college Jones played for the West Virginia Mountaineers.

He will start camp with the Cavaliers on October 1st.
