Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A giant boot stepped into the Binghamton University campus to the surprise of students and teachers.

The L.L. Bean bootmobile has been making a northeast tour stopping at local colleges and universities to teach students how to be ready for the upcoming winter.

The bean crew is calling the event a "winter-vention."

Students could win winter weather gear and discounts to the store through different games, including tossing a boot through a target with a net.

B.U. students say they are prepared for upcoming snow.

"Your average winter wear. Hats, gloves, just to stay bundled up," BU junior Stephon Martin said. "The winters here, they're not brutal but they can catch you off guard if you're not ready."

The boot mobile is traveling across the northeast.

Its next stops are Syracuse University, Rutgers, and the University of Connecticut.
