Almost time for fireworks

(WBNG Binghamton) All the rain the region endured this week and Friday may not be good for local tee times, but it could certainly make the job easier for firefighters when residents light the night for July 4th.

With the Fourth of July less than a week away, firework vendors are preparing for the big weekend rush.

At Mess's Fireworks in Great Bend, Pa., the shelves are stocked and a manager said they're ready to go.

It's the busiest time of the year for them, but employees said the excitement makes it all worthwhile.

"It's a fun place to work and like I said, we have great customers," said Mess's Manager Heather Merrell. "They're usually here to celebrate something, so we love helping them walk through the aisles and telling them what things do."

Merrell said it's not unusual for people to come back and buy more fireworks after July Fourth, so they'll be extra busy over next two weeks.

As a reminder, fireworks are illegal in New York.
