Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) As the Southern Tier gets ready for the big fight Saturday between UFC Light Heavyweight Champion and Union-Endicott graduate Jon "Bones" Jones and Chael Sonnen, many were able to wet their appetites in Binghamton Friday night.
Art of Combat 4 was held at the Broome County Veterans Memoral Arena.
While the battles raged inside the cage, some of the fighters took some time to speak with Action News outside of the cage to weigh in on the championship fight. They believe Jones will be coming out on top.
"He's just so unorthodox and I mean his body structure and everything, so athletic," said Andrew Canale of Tioga.
"Chael's tough. He brings it. But Jon's a local favorite here. He's a stud and no one is touching him anytime soon," said Marc Giordano of Utica.
Professional mixed martial arts events have yet to be legalized in New York, meaning Jon Jones is not yet able to fight in his home state.
Bills have passed the Senate the past four years, but then have stalled in the Assembly.
Art of Combat, which is an amateur event, is legal in the Empire State.
