(WBNG Binghamton) Ryan Lake, Timothy Waful, and Shayne Thompson from Binghamton University talk about their senior project for the Discovery Center.

The Discovery Center is happy to announce the opening of their newly renovated exhibit, "Take Flight."

The expanded exhibit area includes the cockpit of a Warthog jet, a hot air balloon and its newest addition, a helicopter simulator.

"Take Flight" will explore the principles and history of flight from Leonardo Da Vinci to the space shuttle with hands on activities that allow children to learn about air flow with a paper airplane station, fly a helicopter through the Southern Tier on the simulator or try a flight game.

The newly renovated exhibit space is a collaboration between Binghamton University's senior engineering team, Lockheed Martin and The Discovery Center's exhibit team.

It is a senior year capstone design project with Binghamton University's Thomas J. Watson School of Engineering and Applied Science in conjunction with Lockheed Martin.

The exhibit will open to the public during the week of May 19th.
