Johnson City, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A Brookyln man is arrested for killing a Binghamton man almost a year and a half ago in Johnson City.

Maurice Bernard Anthony, 30, of Brooklyn is in Broome County Jail without bail. He's charged with murder in connection with the death of Eric Dantzler, 21.

Dantzler was shot in December 2010 along Corliss Avenue in Johnson City. He was taken to Wilson Hospital, just one block from the scene, where he died of his injuries.

The investigation led detectives to New York City, Long Island and finally Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, where Anthony was taken into custody on an unrelated drug charge in August of 2011.

He remained in custody in Pennsylvania until March 2012 when he transferred to New York City to answer a parole violation.

"I can't go into much details since it's obviously a homicide but he was a suspect early on in the investigation and it was a lot of hard work by the investigators here in Johnson City to piece this together over several months until it was determined we had enough to charge him," said Joseph Zikuski, Police Chief.

Anthony was indicted by a Broome County Grand Jury on February 24, 2012.

In April, he was arraigned in Broome County Court on Murder in the first and second degree, and attempted robbery. He's currently in the county jail without bail.

Johnson City Police were assisted by the Binghamton Police and New York State Police as well as the Broome County District Attorney's Office.

"A lot of good, hard police work went into this. They stayed at it. They did a great job. There was several trips to the New York City area trying to locate Mr. Anthony. There was trips to Long Island," said Zikuski.
