(WBNG Binghamton) After a string of bank robberies in Twin Tiers this summer, the US Attorney's office announces the arrest of a suspect.
The string of robberies began on July 16 at the M&T Bank on Vestal Avenue in Binghamton.
According to investigators, Samuel Parotti, 43, of Lisle passed the note to a teller, indicating he had a gun, demanding money.
This is the first of 4 bank robberies local, state and federal investigators have been working together on to identify a suspect.
Parotti is charged with robbery for the bank thefts at the M&T and also the NBT branch on Route 11 in Whitney Point on Aug. 1.
According to the U.S. Attorney's office, he is a suspect in two more bank robberies in August -- a Pennstar branch in Scranton and the Visions Federal Credit Union in Sayre.
In all cases, the robber passed the tellers notes demanding money and indicating he had a weapon.
