Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) It just got easier to treat your dogs to some time off the leash in Binghamton.
The grand opening of the Cheri A. Lindsay Bark Park brought in dogs big and small.
The park originally opened in November but had the ribbon cutting once all the improvements were made on Sunday.
There was dog training tips and contests for those who showed up.
They were able to see a mural created by local cartoonists who volunteered their time and talent to the dog park.
"I just thought it would be cute for him to be running without a leash, for the idea that this is a place where dogs can come play, have a good time, make them feel like they're out in nature, " said Mason Mastronianni.
"We do have two areas, a small dog area and an all dog area so if the little ones are comfortable playing with the big ones they can," said Amy Derkowski.
The Bark Park is open from 6 am to 9 pm daily.
Derkowski says the next item on their wish list is a water fountain for people and their dogs.
