Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The National Tour of Rock of Ages debuted on the Forum Theatre stage Thursday.

But for one performer with local ties, it's a dream come true.

"From when I was a little kid I dreamed of performing on this stage. So to be able to come back and do it and do it again is out of this world," said Binghamton native Stephen Kane, who plays "Franz" in the production.

In fact, Kane said he's been so excited, he hasn't been able to sleep the past two nights.

Rock of Ages is a love story set to a soundtrack of 80's rock and hair metal.

During his stop in the Southern Tier, Kane will also be giving back to the community through a fundraising showcase for the Devin Spears Memorial Scholarship, which jump started his performing career more than 10 years ago.

The scholarship is named in memory of spears, an Endicott Performing Arts Center Kids' Theater Workshop member who was murdered alongside her mother in 2002. Since it's inception, the scholarship has given more than $22,000 to high school graduates pursuing careers in the performing arts.

This year's performance showcase will be held at 8 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Robert Eckert Theater, 102 Washington Ave. in Endicott.
