Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Binghamton University students are helping those in need in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.
Students in Binghamton University's 'Habitat for Humanity' organization are hosting their third annual all-you-can-eat pancake fundraiser.
This year, the focus of "Cloudy With a Chance of Pancakes" is on sending aide to Sandy-ravaged communities across the northeast.
With so many students from the Tri-State area, event organizers say the decision to donate to victims was not hard.
"Most of us were here for the flood last year and just having that hit here when we were here, we know what it's like and now we know what it's like to be personally affected, so it brings us all closer together as a campus and a community," said Habitat for Humanity Student President Brittany Rivera.
Other students have also had success through social media to raise money and awareness.
"One of the residence directors on campus started a campaign on Twitter that if you retweeted his tweet, he would give $1 to hurricane relief and it spread like wildfire," said Rivera. "A lot of people are starting to match his donation."
The public is invited to participate in the pancake fundraiser event this Wednesday from 6:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. in the Old Union Hall on the Binghamton University campus.
For $3 you get all-you-can-eat pancakes, with proceeds going to a good cause.
