Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Binghamton Youth Bureau is getting a boost from Binghamton City Council.
Council members Wednesday night approved $10,000 for the bureau's youth programming.
Director Colleen Wagner said she is thrilled.
She said now she knows the funding is available, she can move forward with determining what type of programming to offer.
While she said she has a few ideas in mind, she also showed she is open to suggestions.
"The feedback that I got from council is that they would like to see it throughout the city, which I completely agree with," Wagner said. "I think it's a great idea. I will bring it to my youth board."
Wagner said she plans to focus the programming on the 10- to 15-year-olds.
The goal of the youth bureau is to offer positive opportunities for local children and teens.
"It's important for our youth and for our community, frankly. It allows the children not only to be involved in programming, but to have a safe place to go. And it's just great for our community."
The bureau was established in 2006.
