Endicott, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Renewable energy. That was the message Tuesday at a press conference held at ETM Solar Works in Endicott.

Binghamton City officials joined representatives from several community organizations including Citizen Action, and The Sierra Club Susquehanna Group.

They say moving forward with gas drilling would be a step backwards for New York State.

"We hear all the time, well burning is going to help our economy, they say it's a transition fuel. Fracking is a dead end detour. That's what it is, and it moves us away from the path to creating a more sustainable future," said Tarik Abdelazim of Binghamton Housing and Community.

Dr. Gay Canough, CEO of ETM Solar works, says with the leaps and bounds solar technology has made year to year, solar is becoming more and more of a realistic renewable energy solution.
