Broome County Emergency Services announces upgrades
Town of Dickinson, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Upgrades are coming to Broome County Emergency Services. Governor Andrew Cuomo announced funding of more than $6 million headed to the county on Tuesday. With the money, the county plans to upgrade its radio tower sites. This will make communication easier between the county and out of county police, fire and EMS that rush in to help during a disaster. "The standards are always changing too," said Raymond Serowik, EMS coordinator in Broome County. "The expectations for communication systems are always changing. Trying to keep up with those needs and those changes is what the challenge really is." Some of you may recall the 911 system was for a time out back in October. Serowik said the funding will address that too. The current 911 phone system is due for a replacement or extensive upgrade by 2015.
