Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) CJ the groundhog is the newest Broome County weather forecaster and will be looking for his shadow Sunday Feb. 2.

CJ the groundhog met with staff and spectators at the Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park.

He's Broome County's "official groundhog" and will let us know if six more weeks of winter is in the future.

On Sunday, the 10-month-old CJ will check to see if a shadow appears when the sunrises around 7:25 a.m.

"We're hoping he will not see his shadow so we can get an early spring here as we're very anxious to get some work done for our projects in the coming season," said zoo executive director Steve Contento.

The Binghamton Zoo will make the official announcement on its Facebook and Twitter pages so be sure to check that Sunday morning for CJ's full report.
