Owego, NY (WBNG Binghamton) History lovers and the Tioga County Historical Society are celebrating history in Owego.

This is the Historical Society's centennial year. It celebrated with an open house Saturday morning.

The museum is displaying a brand new Civil War exhibit with artifacts that haven't been on display since the flood of 2011.

"It's our 100th anniversary. We were formed in 1914 in July. So this is a celebration of our 100th year but also sort of a celebration of how far we've come since the flood," said Kevin Lentz, Executive Director of the Owego Historical Society.

There are also displays from the 1914 era including a bedroom, general store, and one-room schoolhouse.

The society hopes that the replications will give the community a taste of 1914.

The Tioga County Historical Society Museum is open Wednesdays through Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
