Candor NY (WBNG Binghamton) Red, white and blue was plastered in Candor where their Fourth of July parade brought out hundreds of local residents.

Crowds lined the streets in excitement for the veterans, service cars and floats to ride by.

The floats of the parade were one of the biggest hits this year.

There were 14 floats following the theme of favorite Disney movie.

Candor residents pulled out all the stops. There was a Pirates of the Caribbean ship, Mary Poppins with her classic umbrella, and even Huck Finn rode by sitting at his pond.

Many of the participants are not rookies, they come back year after year with new, creative ideas.

A table of judges at the end of the parade score the floats based on categories like prettiest, funniest, and best entertainment.

"Most everybody gets a prize," said float judge Vicki Weber. "Because everybody's done a really good job, and they've all put their heart and soul into it and it's really a good thing."

Residents who grew up in Candor say the floats in this parade are part of the most memorable experience.

"I can remember the floats way way back in 1954 or around there," said Nancy King of Candor, "And I can remember lining the streets here early in the morning waiting for the floats to go by."

Following the July 4th Parade there is a carnival in Candor that goes until 10 pm Thursday night.

The carnival will continue Friday and Saturday.
