Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) It's a week dedicated to local businesses and their economic contributions to the area.

The Chamber of Commerce week kicked off Monday with daily events for members and non-member businesses.

"We're really here to encourage economic development and to make sure that our members succeed," said Chamber President Lou Santoni.

Events this week will include discussion topics such as energy savings, tax increment financing, and organizational tips for businesses.

Membership within the chamber has been increasing for the last three years.

The chamber's president said it offers networking opportunities and new programs for business members.

"They're looking to meet people, they're looking to network, they're looking to see what programs are available to assist them, and we can offer all that right here under the chamber roof umbrella," said Santoni.
