Johnson City, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A Broome County Judge said he's not done yet and wants at least ten more years on the bench.
Current Broome County Family Court Judge Pete Charnetsky (D) announced his plans to run for re-election at St. John's Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Johnson City Thursday night.
As a family judge, he presided over child negligence cases, adoptions, custody battles and more.
"I also do a specialty court, called the Integrated Domestic Violence Court, where I address domestic violence issues and try to minimize the impact of the domestic violence on the children," Charnetsky said.
Charnetsky, a father of two from Johnson City, was first elected in 2004.
"I see myself as being there to make sure that they have a stable lifestyle, they have a nurturing environment, trying to encourage parents and direct parents to provide a healthy environment to the children," Charnetsky added.
Before he was a judge, Charnetsky was an attorney and social worker.
The election is in November and no other candidates have announced so far.
