Norwich, NY (WBNG-TV Binghamton) The Chenango County Fair kicked off its 167 annual fair on Tuesday, and for more than a century and a half, the event has brought together people and animals.

For those highly interested in farming, this is the fair to attend, as it's one of the local fairs whose focus is agriculture.

"It's mainly an agricultural fair, we pride ourselves in animals and 4-H kids," said fair Director, Bob Fleming.

One of the more popular animal-centered events is the New York state harness race.

And there are plenty of rides, too, for those more adventurous.

Mehki, who was there with his family said he was excited to take on the spaceship ride.

"It's the thing where you get on the black things and you stick to the walls and you go around and around really fast. It's my favorite," he said.

Aside from the rides, there are a variety of foods ranging from fried dough to funnel cakes, and even the popular and delicious blooming onion. The weather forecast during the weekend looks fantastic as well, so organizers are expecting a big crowd this year.

The fair runs through Sunday. Click here for a full schedule of events.
