Ithaca, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Mayor of Ithaca says the City is disappointed in a federal jury's decision to award a police officer $2 million in a lawsuit against the City.
Svante Myrick released the following statement regarding the Christopher Miller verdict on Thursday:
"The City is disappointed. The jury did reject Mr. Miller's claims of racial discrimination, but awarded $2 million in damages against the City for alleged retaliation against Mr. Miller in 2009 and 2010. We believe this unfortunate verdict is the result of a number of serious errors. We will likely appeal and hope the appellate court will right this wrong."
