Town of Union, N.Y. (WBNG Binghamton) Three-time state champion football coach Matt Gallagher met with the Endwell Rotary Club Tuesday to talk about the support his team received again during the 2013 season.
Gallagher said he tries to instill in his players the importance of community and how it translates to his players standing up for one another.
He says the lesson is epitomized by the support the team receives from Maine-Endwell residents.
"People come and watch us and then, of course, the great turnout that we had after the state championship, coming home and receiving a welcome with all the fire trucks and things like that, people lining the streets," Gallagher said. "It was just a fantastic way to end everything and to show what type of community we have."
The Rotary Club also gave out their prestigious Paul Harris Fellowship award for going above and beyond to support the community.
They presented the award to two active club members and Gallagher, for his success on and off the field.
