Ithaca, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Allegations of throwing bottles and shouting racial slurs have gotten one Cornell University fraternity suspended.
The reported incident happened at the Sigma Pi house on the campus near University Avenue.
Cornell's University Police Department assisted the Ithaca PD with the call.
Cornell police say a group of black men and women were walking by the Sigma Pi house on Sunday morning. They told police that people on the rooftop began throwing bottles and cans at them. They were also shouting racial slurs.
Sigma Pi has been placed on interim suspension during the IPD's investigation.
In a statement made earlier this week, campus Vice-President Susan H. Murphy said, "There is no place for this kind of behavior at Cornell University; we celebrate our diversity and expect all our members to respect one another."
An open community forum to discuss the issues will be held on campus tonight.
