Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Customers will no longer be able to find all their needs at Boscov's Department stores.

Electronics and appliances will be completely phased out by January.

Action News finds out why some customers think this is a step in the right direction.

This is something Boscov's says its customers have wanted for a while, and those coming in and out of the store on Friday agreed.

The official notice will go out on Thanksgiving Day, November 22nd, to all customers.

The circular will say all appliances and electronics will be phased out of the department store by January.

"For me my customer-ship does not hinge on whether there is an electronics department, I still would shop for other things here at Boscov's," said Estelle Gerber of Binghamton.

Even though electronics and appliances will no longer be offered at the store, Boscov's is keeping its service department.

Allowing customers who purchased those items in the past to get repairs done in store.

A lot of the customers Action News spoke with say they can't even remember the last time they shopped here for electronics and appliances.

"Not in ages to tell you the truth, I think it's a wonderful department but I haven't used them for that, not in ages, so it's not an issue for me," said Gerber.

Boscov's will also introduce Bombay & Company to customers, having mini shops in all department stores that specialize in furniture and home decorating.
