Walton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The fairgrounds in Walton were packed with people Monday for the first official day of the Delaware County Fair.

One of the 11 fair directors said this is the fair for everyone with rides, entertainment and livestock.

"We really push the agriculture," said Ed Rossey, one of the fair directors. "Delaware County is an 'Ag Community' and now with these little sub-farms popping up, they're liking it. You're seeing mom and pop little farms starting to pop up again and it's just worked out great."

Rossey said the fair's numbers are up this year with more than 1,200 livestock animals on display.

For fair goers who aren't into agriculture, there's entertainment like the Garden Tractor Pull.

Cory Zulli was one of the tractor racers on Monday. He said there are a couple of tractor pull clubs in the county, including in Bainbridge and Afton.

The tractors are modified from their original stock to create added horse power.

They pull different amounts of weight down the track as fast as they can. The winner has the best time.

This year saw a record turnout for Monday's pull with more than 160 competitors in the race.

The racing continues on Tuesday with the Antique Tractor Pull.
