Dickinson, NY (WBNG Binghamton) National Make a Difference Day is Saturday.

One place people can make a difference is the Broome County Dog Shelter.

People are invited to stop by to help out the pups from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 27.

The shelter needs donations like dog food and treats or dish soap to help keep the cages and food bowls clean.

"One of the things to try to do is get some dog food donations," said shelter manager Kelly Conlon. "We have a very high number of dogs here right now, and dog food, dog treats, toys, everything that makes the dogs comfortable here at the shelter helps us here."

More than 40 dogs live in the facility right now, which is very close to the maximum capacity.

The shelter is also looking for volunteers to help walk dogs.

There are also plenty of animals ready for adoption.
