Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Republican mayoral candidate Douglas Drazen visited Temple Condor to place his ballot for the primary on Tuesday.
Drazen said his campaign was able to gain some momentum recently and feels that will help get the votes necessary to earn him the party's nomination.
His plan is to continue to reach out to voters throughout the day, but wanted to reiterate his political platform.
"I want to get my hometown back on top," Drazen said, "By establishing the city's reputation as the safest and cleanest city in upstate New York and to stabilize the upper- and middle-income population of the city by the 2020 census."
Drazen continues to push his message of rebuilding Binghamton's reputation as a safe and clean city.
He plans to spend most of the election day continuing to reach out to voters. Drazen he feels optimistic about his chances.
"We're pretty hopeful," Drazen said, "We're going to work it right up til about, we'll shut down the operation probably about 7:30 and then try to relax a little bit and watch those results come in."
Drazen will spend the evening at his home with family and supporters, keeping a close eye on the results as they come in.
