Waverly, NY (WBNG Binghamton) One man is dead and a woman is seriously injured after a house fire in Waverly early Friday morning.

Fire crews were called to the house at 7 Ithaca St. around 2:30 a.m. after neighbors called 911.

Three people were in the home at the time.

Two of them, a man who lives in the house, Louis Sandroni, and his girlfriend Kirstyn Perry were in the home at the time of the blaze and managed to escape.

Sandroni tells Action News 22-year-old Jordan Brown was in the house and died.

Waverly Police have since confirmed Brown's identity. An autopsy was performed Friday afternoon at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton. However, Waverly police and the Tioga County Coroner's Office are still awaiting toxicology results.

Sandroni tells Action News he jumped out of the second floor window with Perry.

Perry is listed in serious condition at Robert Packer Hospital.

"We're thinking right now under the preliminary investigation is it started in the living room in the main part of the entrance," says Chief Ron Howard of the Waverly Barton Fire District.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Waverly-Barton Fire District responded along with the Sayre Fire Department, Greater Valley EMS and the Red Cross.

The Tioga County NY Fire Investigation Team is assisting with the investigation.
