Elmira, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Food Bank of the Southern Tier is calling this year's "Fill the Bus Campaign" a huge success.
55,000 pounds of food was collected.
Thats 4,000 more than last year.
The food is enough to fill more than 15,700 packs of food.
Natasha Thompson, the president and CEO of the food bank said, "Each week our goal is to expand that program to about 35 kids. We could not expand the program without the support of our generous partners like Wegmans."
The campaign began September 7 and ran through September 21 with yellow school buses parked at Wegmans stores in Johnson City, Corning, Elmira and Hornell.
