Bonfire burns up two trailers (with photos)

Guilford, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Two trailers are destroyed in a fire in Mt. Upton.

A call came around 3 a.m. Tuesday, bringing multiple crews to 115 Carney Lane.

Mt. Upton Fire was assisted by Guilford, New Berlin, Gilbertsville, and Oxford Fire crews.

One trailer caught fire, causing a nearby trailer to ignite. Both homes are destroyed.

Action News spoke to Shane Carney, who lived in one of the trailers with his girlfriend and two kids.

Carney told Action News that the fire most likely started by a bonfire from the night before, that may not have been put out all the way, which Chenango County investigators are now confirming.

Chenango County Fire Coordinator Matt Beckwith said Carney and his family were were awakened by the glow of the fire through their bedroom window and were able to escape without injury.

Investigators have ruled the fire accidental.
