Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Broome-Tioga Boces held a patriotic celebration in honor of Flag Day.
Students and teachers gathered in the school gymnasium Friday afternoon for their annual Flag Day ceremony.
Attendees recited the pledge of allegiance, sang songs and waved flags, and plenty of red, white and blue could be seen throughout the crowd.
The school also received a special flag from one of the teachers whose son serves in the military.
"This flag that we're presenting to BOCES is from the U.S. Embassy in Petoria, South Africa. My son, Eric, is the liaison officer for the United States government to the South African Air Force and the South African Army, and this flag flew over the embassy," said BOCES Job Coach Mary Fran Killoran.
Killoran is retiring at the end of the year. She worked as a teacher's aid and a job coach at BOCES for more than 30 years.
